HELPER — U.S. 6 in Price Canyon is closed in both directions Sunday due to flooding, the Utah Department of Transportation said.
The road has been closed between Helper and Solider Summit, UDOT said in a tweet. The eastbound road is closed at the U.S. 89 junction. The westbound road is closed at the U.S. 191 junction.Drivers are being recommended to find an alternate route. U.S. 191 is an alternative route for drivers traveling from Helper. Travelers coming from Utah County can use state Road 89 at Thistle for an alternate route. Emma Park is not recommended due to a flooding hazard and road conditions.
Daneil Robison, a representative for the Carbon County Sheriff's Office, said that there is a box culvert being built in Crandall Canyon. Alert: US-6 is closed in both directions between Helper and Solider Summit from flood damage. Please avoid the area and find an alternate route. More updates to come.The Utah Department of Transportation has not provided an estimated time for U.S. 6 to reopen.
