The Ping River overflowing in Chiang Mai’s Mueang district has caused severe flooding, surpassing the levels seen in 2011. Residences and commercial areas, including San Pa Khoi Market and popular neighbourhoods like Charoen Prathet and Night Bazaar, were inundated on September 25th. With water levels exceeding 1 meter in some areas, at least 2,000 households are expected to be affected.

At least 2,000 households were expected to be affected by the flooding, especially those in and around the Night Bazaar, where water levels exceeded 1m. The council said other affected areas include the outer district of Mae Rim, known for its natural parks and adventure tourism. Attractions in the area were temporarily closed.
