Residents across central and north Northamptonshire have been warned of potential flooding of roads and houses over the next few days
after yesterday's heavy rainfall caused the River Nene to rise. Towns being warned to ready themselves include Wellingborough, Thrapston and Irthlingborough.
The alert reads: "We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days and flooding to gardens, driveways or outhouses is possible close to the river." But flooding inside properties is not likely and there is no expectation of flood warnings at this time.The average level of the River Nene at Lower Ringstead Sluice Automation Monitoring Station near Raunds is around 32m, but the latest reading showed it to be at 32.460m and rising.
