Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., previously declined to support Democrat-backed legislation over a lack of GOP support, but appears not ready to do the same for the Inflation Reduction Act.

Last year, Manchin declared that any legislation addressing voting rights, something Democrats declared was"under attack" at the time, must include input and support from Republicans in order to receive his backing., citing its lack of bipartisanship, and slammed his fellow Democrats for"partisan policymaking," arguing it would"destroy" American democracy.
"The right to vote is fundamental to our American democracy and protecting that right should not be about party or politics. Least of all, protecting this right, which is a value I share, should never be done in a partisan manner," he wrote in a statement at the time.
