Flames start post-break schedule with wild OT loss to Rangers

The Flames got themselves embroiled in a properly mean\u002Dspirited contest at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.

Monday night felt like old-school hockey. Rangers defenceman Jacob Trouba was in the middle of a lot of it, seemingly waking up on the wrong side of the bed and taking — clean — runs at a number of Flames forwards.

Then, Mika Zibanejad put the Rangers up 3-2, but Andrew Mangiapane evened the score early in the third before Michael Stone gave the Calgary crew their first lead of the game. It was only natural that the game went to overtime, and in the end it was Alexis Lafreniere who earned the Rangers the win on a goal where Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom could do absolutely nothing.Article content
