1) The Vancouver Canucks pushed their luck on Thursday in Edmonton. Just 24-hours after rallying from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Toronto 3-2 in overtime, the Canucks dug themselves a deeper hole before starting their comeback. The Canucks spotted the Oilers a 2-0 first period lead and then fell behind 3-0 early in the second. From that point on, the Canucks held their own but the damage was done. The National Hockey League is just too tough a league to constantly be playing from behind.
Demko needs starts and he needs to build a body of work to take with him into the off-season. So, from that aspect, it was important that the team in front of him made a game of it on Thursday night so that he wasn't reduced to 35 minutes of garbage time. Instead, Demko was forced to battle right to the final buzzer. He'll be better for it whenever he gets gets back in net.
