From the classic roast with all the trimmings, or the carvery piled high with spuds and Yorkshire puddings, to the sharing platters and twists on the traditional, Manchester has a bit of everything
Nothing says autumn is here quite a freshly made Sunday roast. It’s a seasonal staple that makes its way onto dining tables just in time to ease the transition into the colder and darker months.
Of course, we rounded up some of our favourites over the years - The Jane Eyre, Hawksmoor and The Edinburgh Castle, we’re looking at you. But, we’re always on the lookout for new additions and unique takes on the much-loved Sunday tradition. All options come served with crispy fenugreek potatoes, roast carrots, parsnips, butternut squash tershi, and of course, Yorkshire puds and gravy. If you’re going all out, mezze starters include small plates of hummus, whipped goats cheese and flatbreads to share, while desserts include a baklava cheesecake and medjool sage bread and butter pudding.
The carvery is hosted at the main platform inside Freight Island so there’s plenty of room for groups of all sizes, whether it’s kids portions you’re after, a standard adult’s plate or XXL for £21 which gives you a choice of three mains. For those who like to have cheese on anything, for an additional £4, guests can have access to the big pot of molten cheese, poured over and torched for extra melt.
