- ROME, NOV 5 - A 25-metre fishing boat carrying 531 migrants and refugees arrived in Lampedusa on Saturday night after being intercepted and accompanied to port by coast guard and finance police vessels.

The boat carrying people mostly from Syria, Egypt, Pakistan and Bangladesh, including just five women and six children, had set sail from Zuwara in Libya. The migrants and refugees said they had paid between four thousand and seven thousand dollars each for the crossing.
