Customers will find the same menu 5 miles away, at another Original restaurant that will remain open.

The restaurant is believed to have opened in Fort Worth in 1930, despite the sign that tracks a 1926 start. Self purchased the company in 1999.

He says one of the most iconic dishes is the Roosevelt Special: a cheese enchilada, one beef taco and one bean chalupa. Thetraces its history back to a combo platter in 1932 that included tacos, rice, salad and a Pearl beer. It cost just 50 cents. “We cherish the five generations of loyal customers who have supported us through many decades, and we thank them for loving our enchiladas, tacos, tostadas, margaritas and laid-back ambiance,” Self wrote in a statement. He didn’t elaborate on the lease dispute.The original Original Mexican Eats Cafe is at 4713 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth. It is expected to remain open until the end of service on March 31, 2023.
