The Marten Falls First Nation and Webequie First Nation are planning to build, operate and maintain the all-season road, dubbed the Northern Road Link cdnpoli cdnecon
Exploration in the Ring of Fire is based out of Noront Resource’s Esker Camp in the James Bay Lowlands.
First Nations in northwestern Ontario are lobbying the federal government to help fund construction of a 120-kilometre road that would connect to the proposed Ring of Fire mining development area. If built, it will link to two other proposed roads — the Webequie Supply Road and the Marten Falls Community Access Road.
Luka Stevanovic and Alik Angaladian of Maple Leaf Strategies registered to lobby last week on behalf of the Northern Road Link Project. Their identical lobbyist registrations list the Marten and Webequie First Nations as subsidiaries that have a direct interest in the lobbying activity.
