Lancashire Christmas Day weather as Met Office predicts if it will snow
The Met Office has released its initial travelling forecast for the Christmas period and the first look and what conditions we can expect on December 25.
Independent weather forecasters have suggested a return of the 'Beast from the East' may be on the cards amid signs of cold weather drivers emerging over Russia in recent weeks. Jim Dale, a meteorologist from the British Weather Services, said this increases the chance of a cold snap in December. The Met Office has debunked the reports saying that while there was a chance of a light dusting of snow on Scottish mountains, the rest of the UK is likely to miss the white stuff. In its long-range forecast, the Met Office says the UK is likely to get more settled weather in the run-up to the big day and temperatures are said to be "normal" for the time of year.
The long-range forecast reads: "Confidence remains low for this period. Conditions are expected to be more settled than of late, with the potential for high pressure to be located close to the UK, at least at first.
