Crews were able to bring the blaze under control in a little less than an hour.
A blaze broke out Friday night at the Atlantic City boardwalk but firefighters were able to work quickly to stop it from spreading, officials said.
Officers from the Atlantic City Police Department spotted flames coming up from under the boardwalk at New Jersey Avenue at 5:40 p.m., according to a statement from the city. Firefighters arrived and discovered that debris had caught fire under the boardwalk and were able to bring the blaze under control around 6:30 p.m., authorities said. One firefighter was being treated for a minor injury.A section of the boardwalk was heavily damaged and will need to be replaced, city officials said.
