The District of Sooke says firefighters battling a large fire in a residential area Tuesday night were able to get the blaze under control by 10 p.m., though crews were expected to remain on scene through the night.
Video shared with CTV News shows a large blaze spewing thick smoke into the sky in a newly constructed residential area.
The municipality urged residents to avoid Church Hill Drive, Noblewood Place and Steeple Chase while firefighters were on scene. On Wednesday morning, the district thanked firefighters, police and paramedics for responding to the call, and said an update on the fire would be shared with the public when possible.Fire and mutual aid partners, along with Sooke RCMP and BC Ambulance. ❤️
