Jersey explosion: Fire service face questions over failure to detect gas leak before deadly blast
Robin Smith, Chief of Jersey Police, warned: “We are not going to be here for days, we are likely to be here for weeks. And it’s important that I make that clear.” Asked about the callout, the head of Jersey’s Fire and Rescue Service Paul Brown, said he was not able to give details “at the moment”, but vowed: “What you can absolutely have is a guarantee for me my personal commitment to you that we will be absolutely honest and transparent. And we will completely provide every item of information that is required.
Though he promised a police investigation that would “rule nothing out”, Mr Smith would not commit to it being conducted independently of Jersey, given the questions over the actions of the fire service.
