The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s (CWDM) Fire Services responded to a fire near the Du Kloof Lodge in Du Toit’s Kloof pass on the N1 on Wednesday afternoon. According to the municipality’s latest update, its fire services, together with CapeNature and contracted service providers including NCC and Leading Edge Aviation, have made significant progress in battling the blaze.

The Cape Winelands District Municipality ’s ( CWDM ) Fire Services responded to a fire near the Du Kloof Lodge in Du Toit’s Kloof pass on the N1 on Wednesday afternoon. According to the municipality’s latest update, its fire services, together with CapeNature and contracted service providers including NCC and Leading Edge Aviation , have made significant progress in battling the blaze. ‘Aerial resources stood down at 6pm as the section closest to the road was successfully contained,’ said CWDM .

‘There are still a few hot spots and a fire line that moved into the mountain kloof. The municipality added that both fire crews and ground crews will remain on the lines throughout the night to continue with active fire fighting. ‘There are currently five firefighting vehicles and crew and four ground crew, two from NCC and two from CapeNature,’ CWDM added. While both tunnels and passes have been reopened, motorists are advised to remain cautious when driving as there are fire vehicles on the roa
