The cause of the fire is unknown, but police and the Durban fire department are investigating.
Several shops were damaged and scores of people injured when a building in Queen Street in Durban’s CBD caught fire on Wednesday morning.
“Multiple patients had sustained smoke inhalation and were assessed by advanced life support paramedics on the scene before most went privately to see private doctors. The shops were extensively damaged and the Durban Fire Department worked quickly to extinguish the blaze,” he said.
