A firefighter was in good condition Thursday morning after a fire broke out at the 152-year-old Seth Warner home, the oldest remaining structure in the Austin neighborhood, officials said.
Officials said about 1 a.m., firefighters were alerted to 631 N. Central Ave. The building is reportedly theThe fire broke out on the top floors were it sustained fire, water and smoke damage. The structure was granted landmark status in 2022, and predates the Great Chicago Fire.
The house was built as a family home by Seth P. Warner, one of Chicago’s earliest settlers, who was a blacksmith, abolitionist and patron of the arts.
