Only a tiny number of people pay inheritance tax - but it’s still a tricky topic for Labour

The Tories’ failure to win an outright victory in 2010 meant that they had to form a coalition with the Liberal Democrats, so it took until 2015 for Osborne to finally deliver on his promise, changing thresholds to hit that £1m target. Yet while that’s the very definition of “unearned income”, and while many worry more about taxes on earned income in the form of their squeezed wages, the fact remains that for many in Britain, their home is their savings and is their pension.
