Which vehicles will be able to meet those standards remains unclear, as automakers scrambled to review the new rules Friday. The guidance follows the passage last year of the Inflation Reduction Act, which expanded the existing $7500 tax credit on the premise supply chains shift to North America. Some stipulations of the Inflation Reduction Act were temporarily put on hold. A rule that no portion of battery components can come from China or other"foreign entity of concern" does not kick in until 2024 and a similar rule on critical minerals goes into effect in 2025.
