For better and worse, it has been an eventful few years that Fernando Tatis Jr. has been with the Padres
. It was the largest contract ever awarded to a player not yet eligible for arbitration and at the time was the third-richest deal in MLB history. The deal has a no-trade clause through 2028.Tatis leaves a spring training game with a left shoulder injury after reaching across his body to field a ground ball. The shoulder popped out of its socket, the second time it happened that month. It also happened on a play at the plate more than two weeks earlier.
Tatis crumples to the ground and is helped off the field with a partially dislocated shoulder. It was revealed he had a partially torn labrum and the belief was he would need surgery at some point.In the third at-bat of his first game off the injured list, after missing nine games, Tatis homers against the Dodgers.On the 22nd anniversary of the night his father hit two grand slams at Dodger Stadium, Tatis homers twice off Clayton Kershaw.
