Oliverson said the method serves as an early warning device and can save lives. Fentanyl is more powerful than heroin, and a tiny amount of the synthetic opioid can be lethal.
“It’s very possible that people might survive and the next day continue abusing drugs. We can treat people suffering from addiction,” Oliverson said. “What we can’t treat is somebody who has died of an opioid overdose. That’s an unrecoverable error.”.
