FEDUSA welcomes court decision to temporarily halt a deal between Transnet and Philippines...
The Federation of Unions of South Africa has welcomed a court decision to temporarily halt a deal between rail and freight utility Transnet and the Philippines-based International Container Terminal Services Incorporated .
The deal, which would have seen ICTSI manage Durban Container Terminal Pier 2, was stopped due to concerns over Transnet’s bidding process. The court ruled last Wednesday that the process of selecting ICTSI as the preferred bidder may have been flawed and unfair to other bidders. FEDUSA General Secretary, Riefdah Ajam says, “It’s indeed a vindication to FEDUSA and our affiliate UNTU. We have been warning for years that this process is flawed, citing the lack of oversight and accountability.” Any cookies that may not be particularly necessary for the website to function and is used specifically to collect user personal data via analytics, ads, other embedded contents are termed as non-necessary cookies.
