The removal of care at home services could see a rise in elderly people forced into care homes. The service supports older adults and people with long term health conditions to live at home safely.
Concerns the removal of certain care at home services might force people into residential care have been raised by members of the West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership .
The service has traditionally operated from Monday to Friday and has consisted of very little personal care with more need for “domestic tasks” like housework and picking up weekly shopping.READ NEXT: New Clydebank 'mental health pharmacy' to be introduced two days a week During their latest meeting questions were raised about the removal of the overnight home service, domestic duties and what this might mean for people who want to continue living at home.
“This could have a very significant impact on their care because it then means they will no longer stay at home and they could end up in a care home. Have we looked at that?”
