FBI deputy director Paul Abbate rejects claims of targeting Trump, conservatives: ‘There are not two standards of justice’

Paul Abbate declined to explain the FBI’s decision-making behind first shielding a document alleging Mr. Biden accepted bribes while serving as vice president, then redacting damning details once the document was released to a select group of House lawmakers.

He said the FBI is showing “an unlimited hubris” in the way it has handled the dual cases of Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump. Now Mr. Biden faces questions raised by congressional Republicans over an FBI source who alleged the then-vice president took multi-million dollar bribes to intervene in Ukrainian affairs at a time when his son was on the board of a Ukrainian energy company.

Mr. Abbate told senators on Tuesday he didn’t know if there were, in fact, recordings, but defended the decision to limit what Congress saw.
