With less than three weeks until the start of Pride Month in Chicago, there is a new warning from the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security that celebrations could be targets of terrorist activity.
“It’s a shame that we are dealing with people who try to victimize and hurt our community and people who are just trying to live a normal life and be accepted,” said Dante Hernandez, who operates a cannabis dispensary on North Halsted Street. “At this time, there is no specific, actionable threat to the Chicago area related to the LGBTQIA+ community or planned public events,” special agent Siobhan Johnson said.
