(9) Florida Atlantic played spoiler Sunday, ending (16) Fairleigh Dickinson’s unlikely men’s NCAA Tournament run. FAU advances to its first Sweet 16 in program history with just its second-ever Tournament win.
FAU ended FDU’s cinderella run despite a poorly shooting night from deep. The Owls usually make their living from behind the arc and entered the game shooting 36.9% from behind the 3-point arc.
They shot just 29% on Sunday, but are still going to their first ever Sweet 16 after scoring 38 points in the paint. They also took care of the ball in the face of the FDU press, turning the ball over just 11 times in the game. —
