Asghar says it is time we consider new ways to approach art. How do you approach it, she wonders, in a way “that can honor people and their identities, rather than feeling like they have to smush them down to navigate a world that’s not made for them?”
Asghar hopes to do this for every film set she’s on and for any other art she creates moving forward.
“Ultimately,” she says, “what’s really important to me is to continue to make art that matters most to me, and to really just work on things I feel are getting at a story or an essence of self and purpose.”
