WATCH | Fatal school trip not approved by department, says Gauteng Education MEC

Nomusa Mathebula, the grandmother of Siphamandla Peterson, says the family is devastated by the loss of their child.

"We are very shocked about the news. We only saw it on TV. We hope the MEC and the department bring us justice by investigating the matter. Those responsible should be brought to justice because we can see that the children were neglected," Mathebula told News24. On Wednesday morning, Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane visited the Daveyton Skills School in Benoni. This comes after two pupils, Siphamandla, 15, and Sibusiso Sibiya, 17, drowned during a school trip. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
