Two people died and multiple others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on the N2 highway near the Spaghetti junction in Durban.
The N2 highway in Durban is currently gridlocked in both directions as paramedics attend to a multi-vehicle accident. The accident involved a minibus taxi and a truck near the Spaghetti junction early on Monday morning. Multiple ambulances and advanced life support paramedics were dispatched to the scene. The taxi, carrying approximately 23 passengers, lost control, collided with the barrier, and rolled multiple times, ejecting most of its passengers.
Paramedics treated approximately 21 patients on the scene with injuries ranging from moderate to critical before they were transported to various urban hospitals. Sadly, two males, believed to be in their 30s and 40s, sustained major injuries and were declared dead on the scene. Paramedics also attended to another serious accident in the area involving a truck that lost control, collided with a barrier, and overturned, leaving the driver trapped. The Durban Fire Department used the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment to cut the man free. Paramedics stabilized him in the vehicle before transporting him to a nearby hospital
