A farmer in Timsbury, near Bath, was caught on video dragging his dog behind his car before dumping it to die so that he could get a haircut. The dog, named Daisy, was so badly injured that she had to be put to sleep. The farmer, Kim Norman Rendall, is facing jail time for his callous act.

North Somerset Magistrates' Court heard that Rendall finally stopped, one of the passing drivers shouted "dog, dog" out of a window, leading to a woman flagging down the Micra. When he pulled over, he was furiously confronted by passersby. Police were called by disgusted onlookers and attended the Micra's registered address, Rendall's mother's home, within an hour. They found him drinking tea and having his haircut. He refused to tell cops where his dog was and was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.
Top UK & World stories today The poorly pooch was blue-lighted to a vets' practice in a police vehicle, where it was confirmed she had complicated and traumatic injuries, including full-thickness skin loss on both hind legs and an open fracture of a foot. PC Cosgrove said that she was "traumatised" by Rendall smirking during his police interview. She added: "I just felt incredibly sorry for her, that a human let her down so badly. This is one of those jobs that will haunt me forever."
