One part of Spain will pay 200 people to move there to live and work remotely. Applications are set to open in September.
Several countries have tightened up their golden visa and digital nomad programmes in recent times.
To grow the local population and the economy, authorities in Extremadura have set aside €2 million to attract 200 remote workers and digital nomads to the region.Extremadura seeks remote workers who are highly qualified professionals in the tech industry. Those who wish to apply must commit to maintaining a remote job and living in Extremadura for at least two years. Those not in possession of a digital nomad visa will need to apply for this first and have it approved by Spanish authorities as well as obtain a residency document before applying for the Extremadura scheme.
