En una entrevista en 1996 con The Associated Press, Barker recordó cuando le avisaron que lo habían contratado: “Sé perfectamente dónde me encontraba, sé perfectamente cómo me sentí: colgué el teléfono y dije a mi esposa, ‘Doroti Jo, lo conseguí!’” Barker duró 18 años con “Truth or Consequences”, incluidos varios años en su versión para distintas redes televisivas.
