Acting FAA Administrator Billy Nolen tempered expectations for a fast turnaround time on fixing the administration's NOTAM system, which suffered an outage.
"So, recently you announced that upgrades to the NOTAM system would not be completed for almost a decade, and I assume it's because of the complexity of making the updates," said Lummis. "But is there a way to expedite that time frame?"
Airline flights across the country were grounded and delayed last month due to an outage in the NOTAM system, which relays key information to flight crews. "And we'd love to see if that's possible. Right now, substantially, the bulk of the work will be done by [fiscal year 2025.
