What is bracing about these disclosures is not only the range of organizations ExxonMobil supports, but also the amount of money the corporation gives to them. In its February report, the company said it spent $6 million to lobby federal and state governments in 2020, but according to its disclosures to the Senate Office of Public Records, its federal lobbying alone came to more than $8 million that year.
