Extreme Cold Weather on Tap Saturday for Island; Northern Labrador in for Major Storm nlweather

Tomorrow is going to be one blustery, cold day for most of the island and parts of Labrador as an Arctic airmass moves through the region.

Mitts and hats will be in order virtually everywhere with high winds on the island and wind chills in the -30 range; add in some snow for good measure. Newfoundland has wind, extreme cold and winter storm warnings, along with a snow squall watch. While, Labrador has extreme cold, blizzard and snowfall warnings in addition to a blowing snow advisory.

It’s also going to be a messy afternoon commute today according to Justin Boudreau, a meteorologist with the Environment Canada, with light rain in the forecast for a few hours late this afternoon. All the water will cause slick conditions as the temperature drops from -1 one to -10 overnight.
