Post-tropical storm Fiona caused widespread destruction across P.E.I. on Sept. 24, including to this under-construction structure near Credit Union Place in Summerside. - Zack Culleton photo Both the City of Summerside and Maritime Electric were telling residents that it would be Sunday, Sept. 25, at the earliest before crews were able to start safely reconnecting customers.
Meanwhile, some residents of the city, mostly in Slemon Park were also without water service for most of the day, but crews were working to try and restore it. Officials said during a provincial update Saturday afternoon that, as of 4 p.m., no one had died on the Island due to the storm.Major storms can create all kinds of different emergencies.
