'One of the most prevalent side hustles is the use of social media, for example using YouTube or TikTok to create content with the intention of earning money online.'
With the price of household bills rising at a rate faster than we’ve ever seen before, more and more people are turning to side hustles to cover gaps in their bills.
Data from search analysis engine Ahrefs shows that YouTube searches for “how to make money on YouTube” stand at 44,000 per month, with TikTok’s similar search not far behind with 35,000 results per month. Ranking in eighth place, Irish citizens would need to gain 10,009,636 YouTube views or 113,081,832 TikTok views to earn enough revenue to match the €35,076 net average annual salary in the country.
