As the clocks go backwards on October 29, people are set to experience a range of physical and mental symptoms as a result of their bodies dealing with the change.
With less sunlight and darker days, our bodies go through many changes - from fluctuations in hormones to a disrupted sleep cycle.
"Naturally, we use sunlight as an indicator to wake up, and darkness as a sign to sleep. Any changes to duration can disrupt the body's circadian rhythm and play havoc with our hormones, which is why some people may feel more sluggish and unable to concentrate after the clock's go back." Dr Kanani explained: "With less sunlight our bodies have fewer opportunities to absorb the sunshine vitamin, vitamin D.
"When we are low in serotonin, our body makes us crave carbohydrate in order to reduce the amount of branched-chain amino acids and increase the level of available tryptophan."
