The New Democrats, the Greens or even the Conservatives could try to recruit Wilson-Raybould, a political analyst said.

It was business as usual inside the Vancouver Granville constituency office of B.C. MP Jody Wilson-Raybould on Tuesday afternoon.

UBC political scientist Max Cameron said that ending his relationship with Wilson-Raybould was a blow to Trudeau and his agenda. “Our system is unkind to independents and really parties are the only game in town in our democracy,” said Cameron. “I’d be surprised if those parties didn’t court her.” “I don’t think anybody looks blameless right now. I don’t think there is a sacrificial lamb and a really bad guy. He felt he had more of a hold on her than he had. And she thought she had more power than she did,” Forrest said.

Wilson-Raybould’s father, Bill Wilson — who is also an Indigenous leader — said that his daughter could run as an independent. “Reflecting on what PM has done, my thoughts are w/ my constituents in #VanGran, my dedicated staff & volunteers, my family & friends & all Canadians who believed in a new way of doing politics. I will take the time to reflect & talk to my supporters about what happens next,” she tweeted.
