During a trip to Jonathan Van Ness' home town, the Queer Eye Fab 5 guys made time to talk to some high school students at Jonathan's old high school.
is finally back on Netflix for another round of changing lives and this season the story gets extra personal. That's because the guys head back to Jonathan Van Ness' old stomping grounds, his high school in Quincy, Illinois, to help his old music teacher, Kathi Dooley. While helping Kathi work on herself during episode 1 of season 4, the guys also made some time to chat with members of the school's Gay Straight Alliance.
During the conversation, Jonathan mentioned that the existence of such a group is something he would have never imagined, since he said he couldn't walk 10 steps without someone bullying him or calling him a derogatory term during his time as a student at the school. "At that time, [the] Gay Straight Alliance is something I didn't think would ever be like literally allowed," Jonathan said.
The students also opened up about their own experiences coming out or trying to define their identities."I'm having a really hard time finding who I am, I don't know if I'm straight, I don't know if I'm gay. I've had relations with both and it's really hard to share that," said one of the students. Jonathan, Karamo, Antoni, Bobby and Tan all got to be teachers for a week as they shared all the knowledge they've learned in their own personal journeys.Jasmine Gomez is the Editorial Fellow at Seventeen and covers celebrities, pop culture, music and what's interesting on the internet.
