The film opens in selected United States theaters on May 17, 2024.“In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, two sisters leave their stronghold to save their wounded mother. Armed only with a muscle car and limited ammo, they race against time and ruthless raiders to secure life-saving supplies from a distant outpost,” the synopsis reads.
Road Wars: Max Fury stars Vernon Wells, Lindsay Marie Wilson, and Daniel Collins. It is written and directed by Mark Atkins, who has made a number of other films for The Asylum, including 2015’s Road Wars. He’s also helmed 2006’s Halloween Night, 2009’s Princess of Mars, 2011’s Battle of Los Angeles, 2012’s Alien Origin, 2013’s Jack the Giant Killer, 2014’s Android Cop, 2016’s Planet of the Sharks , 2019’s Monster Island, and more.
The Asylum is largely known for creating direct-to-video “mockbusters,” which are low-budget movies released around the same time as a large, high-profile blockbuster. While founded in 1997, the production company’s greatest success was in 2013 with the release of Sharknado, which quickly spawned a franchise.
The Asylum is also known for producing Z Nation, a Syfy zombie television series that ran for five seasons.
