Decades after seven men allege sexual abuse while teen track stars in Edmonton in the 1970s, the Edmonton police sexual assault unit is reviewing information

The Edmonton police sexual assault unit is reviewing information from several former teen track stars who allege sexual abuse in the 1970s while training with a high-profile coach, a police spokesman confirmed Friday.

“I applaud the Edmonton police for taking that route. I think it is in the public interest. Of course, Mr Porter is entitled to the assumption of innocence like anyone else.” Postmedia has interviewed five of these men, whose allegations range from inappropriate massages to being shown pornography to non-consensual oral sex in a Saskatoon hotel room to sex in an Edmonton apartment.

“The police have contacted us and we will go forward with them,” added Brian Rhodes of Kelowna, who alleges abuse in Edmonton in the 1970s. “It is the right thing to do.”
