Grey's Anatomy star Jaicy Elliot caught up with HELLO! to talk about her new Hallmark Christmas movie, plus she opens up about Ellen Pompeo's surprise departure from Grey's.

The TV star is opening up about Grey's Anatomy and her new movie My Southern Family Christmas November 25, 2022 - 10:25 GMT Megan Bull With the holiday season just around the corner, Jaicy Elliot caught up with HELLO! to talk about her brand new Hallmark movie – My Southern Family Christmas. Plus, the Grey's Anatomy star opened up about her co-star Ellen Pompeo's surprising departure from the long-running medical drama.

What is your favourite Christmas movie? It's funny because I just went to New York to do some press for the movie and I was with Nikki DeLoach the whole time when I was doing press and it just happened to be that at the end of our press tour I had to tell her that her Christmas movie was my favourite Hallmark Christmas movie that I had seen. It's pretty popular, it's Dream of Christmas.

So creating links I think to the past and the future was very important. That was really brilliantly sort of figured out by our showrunner Krista Vernoff with the new class of interns that are just as spunky, I would say, as the first class of interns was way back, the magic group. Obviously, it's the end of an era. I know it's had like a shock wave through social media but you know Ellen is great, she's been such a terrific mentor and she's like a precious source of information.

Ellen's departure has set the tone for all of that, but it remains Grey's Anatomy and there are still a lot of people there that I've known and worked with all this time and love, and it's still very much home.

Mapping the effects of pregnancy on resting state brain activity, white matter microstructure, neural metabolite concentrations and grey matter architecture - Nature CommunicationsMapping the effects of pregnancy on resting state brain activity, white matter microstructure, neural metabolite concentrations and grey matter architecture - Nature CommunicationsAnimal studies have shown that pregnancy is associated with unique changes in the mammalian brain and behaviour, although pregnancy-associated changes in the human brain are less well studied. Here the authors show that pregnancy is associated with changes in resting state brain activity and brain anatomy which are most pronounced in the default mode network.

Neuroimmune proteins can differentiate between tauopathies - Journal of NeuroinflammationNeuroimmune proteins can differentiate between tauopathies - Journal of NeuroinflammationBackground Tauopathies are a group of neurodegenerative diseases where there is pathologic accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau protein (ptau). The most common tauopathy is Alzheimer’s disease (AD), but chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and argyrophilic grain disease (AGD) are significant health risks as well. Currently, it is unclear what specific molecular factors might drive each distinct disease and represent therapeutic targets. Additionally, there is a lack of biomarkers that can differentiate each disease in life. Recent work has suggested that neuroinflammatory changes might be specific among distinct diseases and offers a novel resource for mechanistic targets and biomarker candidates. Methods To better examine each tauopathy, a 71 immune-related protein multiplex ELISA panel was utilized to analyze anterior cingulate grey matter from 127 individuals neuropathologically diagnosed with AD, CTE, PSP, CBD, and AGD. A partial least square regression analysis was carried out to perform unbiased clustering and identify proteins that are distinctly correlated with each tauopathy correcting for age and gender. Receiver operator characteristic and binary logistic regression analyses were then used to examine the ability of each candidate protein to distinguish diseases. Validation in postmortem cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from 15 AD and 14 CTE cases was performed to determine if candidate proteins could act as possible novel biomarkers. Results Five clusters of immune proteins were identified and compared to each tauopathy to determine if clusters were specific to distinct disease. Each cluster was found to correlate with either CTE, AD, PSP, CBD, or AGD. When examining which proteins were the strongest driver of each cluster, it was observed the most distinctive protein for CTE was CCL21, AD was FLT3L, and PSP was IL13. Individual proteins that were specific to CBD and AGD were not observ
