, former Los Blancos midfielder Freddy Rincon is in hospital in Colombia after being in a life-threatening car accident.
Per a statement put out by the hospital in Cali, Rincon arrived with traumatic brain injury, with spokeswoman Laureano Quintero describing his condition as"very serious". The former professional footballer, who is 55 years old, represented the Spanish giants between 1995 and 1997, and made an impressive 84 appearances for his country between 1990 and 2001.
"From Real Madrid, all of our strength and affection for Freddy Rincon following the accident he was involved in today. We send our encouragement and we hope he overcomes this difficult moment as soon as possible," a statement released by Real read. Rincon was also on the books of Napoli once upon a time, but spent the majority of his playing days in South America playing for clubs in Brazil.
