EKYM 35s are celebrating after fighting for the silverware in the Central Premier League
David Winters was at the double for East Kilbride YM 35s to help the side win the Central Premier League for the very first time.
Delighted David said: “It is the first time we’ve won the top league. I think the team got close once before and couldn’t quite get over the line, so it’s great. There are some more familiar faces in the squad with ex-East Kilbride FC defender Martyn McLaughlin and ex-Clyde midfielder David Gray, while David’s brother Robbie – the ex-Aberdeen striker – is a former YM 35s player.
“We played together at the YM over the past couple of years, but he has taken over as U20s coach at East Kilbride FC and they play Friday nights, so he can’t make our games anymore.” • Elsewhere, YM’s GGPL team put in a very strong away performance when they defeated Johnston Burgh 3-2 for a much needed three points. Andy Perrie, Sean Winter and David Thomson netted.
