On Sept. 11, 2001, the United States was attacked by the extremist group al-Qaida, which hijacked four airliners and crashed them, killing almost 3,000 innocent people.
The weather on Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, 2001, was pleasant.
America bustled on the second day of the work week perhaps looking forward to a college football game or time with friends over the weekend. At 9:03 a.m. that day while we were still aghast at the images of Flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175 hit the south tower of the World Trade Center. Flight 175, also a Boeing 767, had 65 people on board. The flight also took off from Boston and was headed to Los Angeles.
