Netflix this week announced that it will be launching a lower-priced ad-supported plan, Basic with Ads, in 12 countries next month. | News24Arts
Netflix is rolling out its new, more affordable version with ads.Ads will be 15 to 30 seconds long and play before and during shows and films.Basic with AdsThe streaming giant's foray into ad-supported broadcasting has been seen by many as the final nail in the coffin for linear TV, which is highly dependent on ad revenue., streaming has now surpassed broadcast and cable in the US.
On average, viewers of the Basic with Ads package can expect four to five minutes of ads per hour. The ads will be 15 or 30 seconds long and be played before and during shows and films. A limited number of movies and TV shows won't be available on the package due to licensing restrictions, which Netflix says it's"working on".
"While it's still very early days, we're pleased with the interest from both consumers and the advertising community — and couldn't be more excited about what's ahead.
