Colleen White, a resident in the area, was one of several community members who helped in the search. “Everybody stopped what they were doing and came out in golf carts, came out in sea dudes, came out in kayaks...came out and did everything they could,” said White. “I got the Facebook post about 5:30 this morning and immediately jumped on the golf cart. I went to the area that they said it happened. We just went to the Perdido Beach Volunteer Fire Department, and I put out a post for everybody to come there- bring drinks, food, and then we set up,” she explained.
Daphne Search and Rescue was one of the local agencies lending a helping hand. Daphne Search and Rescue Cpt. Joshua Gibbs says the teen’s body was located using sonar technology that guided divers.“It’s a tragedy, for sure but it’s good to know that we’ve got good people who are willing to stop everything and come out and help and that’s what I’m blessed with,” said White.According to a social media post by Elberta Church, their sanctuary will be open to the community tonight at 7 p.m.
