Halloween is infamous for its fake-out and retconned deaths. With four timelines, it can be challenging to know who is still alive and who is dead.

Halloween, the sprawling and sometimes contradictory franchise started by John Carpenter in 1978, helped popularize the fake-out death trope in horror movies. The two characters who die and come back most often are the iconic final girl Laurie Strode , and the prolific serial killer Michael Myers. The taciturn antagonist for the whole franchise died and came back to life so many times that it was less a question of whether he stays dead and more of how he survived the latest death attempt.

Of course, the most famous recurring character who dies and comes back to life in pretty much every movie of the franchise is Michael Myers himself. In the original Halloween movie, he is stabbed by Laurie Strode, and she thinks he is dead. However, he isn't. He then spends the next 40 years terrorizing her, her family, and the town of Haddonfield.

Dr. Loomis goes on to appear in both Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween V: The Revenge of Michael Myers , becoming an essential character in the franchise's ongoing story. Unfortunately, the actor who portrayed Dr. Loomis, Donald Pleasence, passed away from a heart attack, making it impossible for him to return for future films. Nevertheless, his character's survival and continued presence in subsequent movies helped to maintain continuity within the series.

5 Halloween V: Revenge Of Michael Myers Jamie Lloyd, the daughter of Laurie Strode, appeared to have met her end in the film, but as it turned out, her fate was even grimmer. She was kidnapped by the cult that controlled Michael and ultimately had a child before her death.
