Ranking the episodes Amy Poehler wrote.
Amy Poehler wrote five episodes of the NBC comedy Parks and Recreation, and one ranks better than the others. Parks and Recreation has always been praised for its sharp and funny writing, with many jokes that are still memorable today. The show's great performances were elevated by good writing and directing, demonstrating how the show was a collaborative effort. In addition to Poehler, two other cast members wrote and directed episodes.
5 Second Chunce In this episode, which Amy Poehler co-wrote with Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur, Leslie Knope is coming to terms with the fact that her time as City Councillor has come to an end. When Councilman Dexhart becomes embroiled in a sex scandal, Leslie sees this as a second chance and plans to run against him. Meanwhile, Chris and Ann decide to find out the sex of their baby, Tom is searching for a new business idea after selling Rent-A-Swag to Dr.
3 Telethon This Parks and Recreation episode focuses on Leslie as she works the late-night shift of the Pawnee Cares telethon to raise money for diabetes research. After previously pulling an all-nighter, Leslie struggles to stay awake and also must figure out how to fill time while Tom and basketball star Detlef Schrempf are sidetracked at the Snakehole Lounge. Meanwhile, Mark is planning to propose to Ann, while Ann is unsure about her future with Mark.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Poehler explains that the finale is "a way of saying thank you" to viewers who have cared about the characters for seven seasons. It's very satisfying to see what the main cast gets up to in the future, and great that the show even touches on recurring characters such as Jean-Ralphio and Craig Middlebooks.
